Break that “fear”

Now Ornan turned and saw the angel; and his four sons who were with him hid themselves, but Ornan continued threshing wheat. I Chronicles 21:20

Before I could start with this verse, let me explain the story. In this part of the Bible, David sinned by numbering Israel, which was against God’s promise to Israel.

So, God’s wrath came over David and Israel. Israel was affected by the plague and seventy thousand men died. Then God asks the angel to stop the disaster and the angel stops and stands on the threshing floor of Ornan.

David sees the angel standing with a drawn sword and falls on his face with the elders of Israel and confesses his sin.

Then, the angel of the Lord commands Gad to go and ask David to erect an altar on the threshing floor of Ornan. Immediately David rushes to Ornan to buy that field and built an altar for God.

Only in this situation does it happens that Ornan sees the angel standing on his land. But he doesn’t react to it, he continues with his threshing work (1chronicles 21:20). When his children see the angel, they run to hide but Ornan is still working.

That is why I feel, God asked David to offer sacrifice on Ornan’s threshing floor. You see where fear is, you cannot expect God to be there. And where God is, fear will run away.

Look at the scripture 1chronicles 21. The whole of Israel was trembling because of the plague. It had killed so many. But Ornan was not at all worried even a bit. He was calm. This calmness can only be with someone who walks very close with God.

So, my dear friends, do not be afraid of anything and do not live in fear of any darkness. Keep seeking God and you will be free from all the fear. Don’t forget that fear will repel God from you.

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.
I John 4:18
